Child Bereavement Support (Singapore) is run by bereaved parents for bereaved
parents.
We are a network of bereaved parents who have all found that
meeting other bereaved parents is what has made the biggest difference to us,
and given us the most support, the most hope and the most comfort.
People grieve in very different ways but what we have learned
through our own experience is that the value of parent to parent support is
enormous.
We started in April 2004 as 5 bereaved mothers who realized the
need for a support group in Singapore and so CBS was born. Our experiences were
very different but we shared an important bond. Along the way we have met many
other bereaved parents, from a variety of racial, religious and cultural
backgrounds.
We are united in our sorrow, pain and yearning for our
children AND in our desire to help each other by sharing our different
experiences as we struggle along our individual journeys of grief.
As an independent, parent-to-parent organization, one of
CBS’ main objectives
is to provide support and friendship to bereaved parents through a
‘befriending’ network, regular support meetings and planned
events. In addition, at our
official launch in March 2005 we published our first book,
Farewell, My Child, a collection of stories of our lost
children with chapters on how to cope and how to lend support which is
available for free to all bereaved parents in Singapore.
